Description
offered is a late 1920's or early 1930's art deco Ronson 2nd model "standard"engine turned
de-light automatic pocket petrol lighter. the chrome plated lighter features an engine turned front and back with diamond initial area. the ronson standard was part of the family of designs originating with the 1927 delight as shown in patent. the delight was designed by louis v. aronson of newark, new jersey and is certainly one of the most important lighters of the 20th century. the underside is marked Ronson de-light amw newark, nj along with patent numbers. the "standard" measures about 1-7/8" tall x 1-1/2" wide and is in good used untested condition. there are typical use nicks and small dings that slightly detract. there is a small flawed chrome area on back that is difficult to see in last photo. a few small plating stains on snuffer also detract. the lighter is still a showy example. the mechanism is untested and may operate with proper service of fuel and flint. an old stuck flint may require removal for use. the lighter is sold " as a collectible". overall - a rare art deco Ronson "standard" automatic lighter for your collection.
patent photo is not included in sale -
