    Description

This 1959 Imperial Crown is a strong running winged car that was one of the last of Virgil Exner’s “Forward Look” design.
Imperials have “freestanding” taillights, upgraded grills, fancy trim and improved options and more.
The 1959 Imperials featured all the bells and whistles from the previous year with chrome headlight pods, redesigned chrome grill and Flite Sweep deck lid.
Since it would be the last year they would build this style car, they went all out with “Jetson’s” inspired dash-mounted push-botton transmission powered by a 413 Cubic Inch Edge Head V8 engine.
Being that these Imperial Crowns were the top-of-the-line model for Mopar back in 1959, most of them (including this one) came loaded with many desirable options including
    p
    ower steering and power brakes.
This Imperial also has air conditioning featured in the trunk (I have never attempted to turn it on).
I purchased this car at an auction 20 years ago.
Her name is Queen Bea and she has an interesting story.
She was owned by a family for 17 years and then went to a movie lot.
She has been in many movies, but most notably, Cobb featuring Tommy Lee Jones. There is a scene with him racing the car down a snowy mountain and ultimately goes over but when I purchased it they told me they used a suburban in that scene.
There is a website that features this scene.
Her turquoise color is not original, it is dark green, and the inside of the trunk still features that color.
There has never been any significant damage to the car.  There are chips of paint missing but it is in good condition.  The radio and speakers still work and so does the Mirror Matic (rear view mirror).
She has been a great car and my weekend ride and she is special.
Here are a list of the things that do NOT work:
    ·
Clove compartment box does not open (I was told that is where the camera went for filming and it was welded shut)
    ·
    Gas gauge does not work
    ·
Bottom front lights do not have glass covers
    ·
    Horn does not work
    ·
    Doors do not lock
    ·
    Driver seat interior ripped
    ·
    Missing decorative eagles on interior
As I stated, I have not turned on or tried to turn on the air conditioning
