Description
We have had this sign for at least 20 years and have never really figured it out. A.Geissel & Sons produced professional vehicles back in the teens and continued to sell as a distributor for many decades. Geissel sold many coach-built cars for funeral and ambulance use. The car in this photo has us stumped as to the manufacturer. During the 30's, according to on-line searches, Geissel used mainly Henney-built cars, but this one could be just about any custom coach builder from that era. This sign looks to be from the mid-30's. It is heavy steel, one-sided. The photo of the professional car is highly detailed and looks to be a heavy paper with A.Geissel & Sons, Direct Factory Distributors, Philadelphia stamped on it. We have made a point not to touch it over the 20 years we have had it. The lower section contains an old, beat-up Studebaker decal. We are not experts of the 30's, so we are not sure the car matches the old decal. We even tried to ID it from the hubcaps, but we could not. But, if you are looking at this, you already know more than we do. Sales tax may be applied by ebay for some states. Thanks!NOTE: Look at photos, it is a little rough, but still displays well. It is about 30"x20". PLEASE be 100% sure you want this before buying. No warranty and no returns. Ship cost shown for continental 48 US states.
