Recent acquisition from the estate of the late Nick Monios extensive toy collection is this: Fantastic antique Gunthermann German tin clockwork toy billiard pool player toy as shown in our photos. This interesting and unique tin toy features a billiard player that after winding will move his arm and pool stick into a shooting position while the mechanism underneath will feed a small ball upwards into the hole directly ahead of him. With a quick movement he will strike the ball and shoot it across the table into marked holes with value assigned to each hole. When the ball falls thru the hole it proceeds down the chute into a scoop that raises the ball again into a shooting position. The clockwork mechanism operates perfectly. The litho paint on the player is very detailed right down to his striped pants and facial features. The tin toy still has the original platform that is seldom found on other examples. As is about 99.9% of these toys the small white cue ball was missing but we found a bead of the same size that works well for demonstrations. His right shooting arm has become loose and may need some attention by a new owner but has worked well for us. Notice the ball feed on the underside as its unlike most other examples that has the feed on the outside of the table. This fantastic tin clockwork toy measures 6 1/4" in length, 4 1/2" high and 2 3/4" wide. These old Gunthermann tin billiard player toys are some of the rarest to be found and this one will be the highlight for someone's antique tin toy collection.
