This is a
neat  early 1-5/8" high (tallest point) tool check brass tag from Studebaker  -- likely from a Detroit Area or possibly South Bend Indiana factory
.
Tool checks were used by factory workers to requisition tools -- the number identified the employee.  Some people use these as key fob for their favorite vintage vehicle.
