She taught at Wellesley College from 1891-93, was awarded an M.A. and became a full professor of English Literature.. Autograph Letter Signed. Wellesley, MA: October 16, 1921. Autograph letter signed to "Dear Leighton:" and signed Faithfully yours / Katharine Lee Bates" single sheet 8-1 /2 x 5-1/2 inches, Wellesley College letterhead, Department of English Literature, written on one side, a letter of congratulations on recipient's success, and colorfully complimenting a colleague "fluttering her pedagogical wings and looking for a perch." She also mentions 'The poet's readings." Nice, friendly letter, fine.
