Rare Windup Marusan DRUMMING MONKEY - 1950s Japan
Rare, early 1950s colorful novelty toy of a drumming monkey that moves along in a wide circle, while the umbrella spins and the monkey beats his drum.
The toy came in two jacket variations - red jacket with beige stripes and, with the order reversed - beige jacket with red stripes. There are a few dents in two of the celluloid balls, but all of them are present. The toy rarely shows up and is most often missing the umbrella and/or celluloid ornaments.
Roughly 7 inches high overall. It does not have a key, but almost any standard key will work.
One of the nicest and most charming of the mid-fifties novelty toys by Marusan in near mint condition.
