Here is a darling, 1920'S vintage, working comic character,
LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE
tin windup, jumping rope toy, also called "Skipping Rope".
S
traight out of the 1927 funnies
made famous by the illustrations of Harold Gray
, she first appeared in the comics in, 1924, in "
The Chicago Tribune"
and became a huge hit. With her head of tight, curly hair, those huge "O" eyes and her shaggy dog,
"Sandy"
,
she had a popular weekly radio show
and is
marked on the base by designer
: Harold Gray.
She measures, 5 inches tall with vivid colors and clean mechanism that works perfectly when her metal rope is turned. We do not have her original key but all the wheels turn as does her jump rope.
She has no damages, no dents or repairs. The wheels and jump rope work smoothly.
